F R I E N D S H I P

My art has been on the back burner for a few months.  I've been taking lots of photographs ... and enjoying every minute of it.  When I start my treks back and forth it's hard for me to paint when I am in California.  I miss my studio desperately and on a particularly bad day, wish I was home in freezing temperatures doing what I really find satisfying. On other days, I'd rather be there and golfing or hiking.  I'm 57... what can I say?

I met an artist this past December who has really re-inspired me to paint with a lot more color than before.  I must admit I'm still a little afraid of it, but find all the color adds new emotion and energy to the piece.  (I will ask him if he minds me mentioning his name before sharing - he's brilliant)  This time around I'm entering the studio with a different frame of mind and intention than before.  I'm interested to see what transpires.  Hope you will be too.  Art I'm finding is a journey for me.  One that takes me in many directions and offers so much more than a completed work ... every piece is a lesson and a victory.

Titled Friendship, it's full of a lot of emotion and love and turmoil.  It's about friendship with myself and with others.  About old friends and new ones.  The journey and those we meet along the way and those we leave behind.  All the little photographs make up the one larger piece that measures 4' x 5' (photo #6) (I'm not that good at this yet so don't know how to move #6 to #1, but I'll work on it LOL)
